Turquoise Necklace with Nepalese Bead
This necklace features intense blue turquoise from Arizona, two Nepalese brass beads with turquoise and coral inlay work and a very old Mali glass bead. Two brass nugget beads and a beautiful hand made toggleclasp complete this one of a kind piece.
The use of turquoise as a gem stone goes back to antiquity. With its wide range of green and blue shades, turquoise has been a favorite stone for many cultures. This stone adorned the pharaos of ancient Egypt, the Aztecs and Pre-Columbian rulers, and the members of Persian, Mesopotamian and Chinese dynasties. Eventually traded and sold along the Silk Road, turquoise reached Europe for the first time.
