A unique strand of apple green chrysophrase, ranging from light to dark, is paired with gold-plated accent beads and a Vermeil center bead from Bali. This beautiful bead features a flower motif handworked in a warm reddish vermeil gold tone and a matte patina. Excellent goldsmiths, the Balinese are reknown for making gold, silver and Vermeil beads, using intricate wire and granulation techniques.

Used by Romans and Greeks for decorative purposes, chrysophrase, a semi-translucent, apple green stone, is the most valued variety of chalcedony. Its green color is usually caused by traces of nickel. Derived from the Greek words for „golden apple“, Chrysophrase was used in ancient times to make cabochons but became commercially popular in Europe after deposits were discovered in Poland in the 1700s. Today most chrysophrase is found in Australia. However, with limited supplies, its value as a gem stone has gone up in recent times.
